Super Boat International is the leading national and international body that sanctions offshore powerboat racing across the globe. SBI was founded in 1989 by John Carbonell who has over three decades of experience promoting powerboat events and racing powerboats. SBI also stages races throughout the United States. These races follow a rectangular race course that is approximately five miles long. Powerboats race through the water reaching up to 180mph speed. An estimated one million powerboat enthusiasts attend the action-filled SBI races throughout the year.
Membership and attendance to the SBI race course have been increasing over the last three years. Celebrity racers have included Kurt Russell, Chuck Norris, and Don Johnson. This year’s Annual Key West World Championships, which will be held in Key West, Florida on November 6-10, 2019, will be the event’s 39th staging.
