The president and CEO of Subscription Ink for more than two decades, Russell “Rusty” Rahm is perhaps better known as a champion powerboat racer who won the top three races in the sport (the Triple Crown) in 2016. In 2017, Rusty Rahm required total disc replacement (TDR) surgery to address severe trauma in his cervical spine.

A renowned orthopedic surgeon who has completed highly technical surgical procedures on professional athletes from around the world, Dr. Michael Janssen is a World Champion powerboat racer in his own right. When Mr. Rahm began experiencing consistent and severe neck pain, he reached out to Dr. Janssen for help. Dr. Janssen recommended TDR after examining a troubling MRI, which showed that Mr. Rahm’s spinal cord was at risk of injury that could easily produce lasting nerve damage.

After completing a preliminary procedure to relieve pressure on the spinal cord, Dr. Janssen performed the comprehensive TDR surgery on March 28, 2017. Afterwards, Mr. Rahm experienced immediate relief from his chronic neck pain and competed in his first postoperative powerboat race two months later.
